stop releasing quality handsets that are aimed at a specific market.
There are a number of smaller groups in the Android niche, and some of
them include power users, gamers, and those who just use their
smartphones sparingly.
While there are millions of Android fans, there are users who prefer other ROMs that run more smoothly. One of these ROMs is Cyanogen, a ROM which traces its roots in the Android developers forum, XDA. However, due to its success in providing a simple but powerful Android experience, it has eventually become a company in itself.
Last year, Cyanogen partnered with OnePlus for its first 'Android flagship killer' device, although Cyanogen later partnered with Indian company Micromax. In a report, it stated that it was time for Cyanogen to join hands with Chinese manufacturer Lenovo.
Now, according to a report by GSM Arena, Lenovo would soon launch a Cyanogen-powered version of one of its smartphones that is currently available in China.
Dubbed as the Lenovo ZUK Z1, the Android-powered handset would run a CyanogenMod OS. The report mentioned that would be CyanogenMod 12.1, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The Lenovo handset was announced earlier this year but had only been available in China. Unfortunately, interested international buyers who are fans of Lenovo's Vibe UI may get disappointed with Cyanogen OS.
For people who want to get a refresher, the Lenovo ZUK Z1 is powered by a 5.5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 3GB of RAM, and a Snapdragon 801 chipset, which is impressive for a budget midranger.
In addition, the device boasts a 13MP primary camera, 8MP selfie shooter, 64GB of internal storage, and a huge 4,100mAh battery. Rounding up the specs are the fingerprint scanner, LTE connectivity, and USB Type-C port.
